Hungary Industrial Output Falls 1.5% Year-on-year in February – Budapest Business Journal

Hungary’s industrial production declined by approximately 1.5% year-on-year in February, according to data released by the Hungarian Central Statistical Office (KSH).

Adjusted for working days, the index was unchanged from the unadjusted figure, the statistical office said. On a monthly basis, industrial output fell by 1.8% in February compared to January, based on seasonally and working day-adjusted data.

Production decreased across most manufacturing subsectors compared to the same month a year earlier. Among the largest segments, output rose in the manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, as well as in electrical equipment.

However, these gains were outweighed by declines in key areas, including the manufacture of transport equipment and the production of food, beverages and tobacco products.

In cumulative terms, industrial production in the first two months of 2026 was 2.0% lower than in the same period of 2025, KSH said.

Seasonally and working day-adjusted data also showed industrial output in February below the level recorded in January by 1.8%, confirming a month-on-month contraction.
