Hungarian Big Brewers’ Sales Decline in 2025 – Budapest Business Journal

Domestic sales volume of Hungary’s biggest brewers fell 9.3% to 503 million liters in 2025, the Hungarian Brewers Association and the Small Brewers Association said in a joint statement on Wednesday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

Volume of beer brewed by the companies slipped 4.8% to 473 millon liters.

Developments fit the trend in Europe, the associations said, noting that output of Austrian brewers fell 7.1% in 2025, while domestic sales of German brewers dropped 5.8%.

The market share of premium beers edged up to 25% in 2025, while alcohol-free beers took 7%.

Close to 70% of beer was sold in cans and 14pc was sold in bottles. The association data includes sales of Borsodi, Carlsberg Hungary, Dreher, and Heineken Hungaria.
